Our Values

The Foundation We Stand On

Find your place in God’s story of grace and redemption.

At Storyline Fellowship , we strive to create a “quick to listen, slow to speak” culture, giving people the room and space to consider the claims of Christianity. In love, God assigned each of us a part in His grand theatre. When we find our place in His story, we find peace, joy, and life abundant.

“And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for ‘In him we live and move and have our being.'” (Acts 17:26-28a ESV)

Theologically robust, culturally relevant.

Our church emphasizes intellectual and spiritual growth as the fuel for ministry and service. While we create a warm environment for spiritual explorers, we read, explain, and apply the Scriptures in corporate worship.

Home is a launching pad, not a landing place.

We believe the greatest dream parents should have for their children is that they would be released into the world on mission. We equip parents to train their children spiritually, and we blatantly challenge men to reject passivity in the home.

Warm conversations, not cold confrontations.

We model and teach relational evangelism, which focuses on building trust and true friendships with those from competing worldviews. We pray for unchurched people by name and look for an opportunity to share the love and message of Christ with them.

Busy church is not better church.

We believe in keeping the program simple so that people can spend time with unchurched neighbors and friends. While we welcome fresh ideas, we add programs with caution, resisting the urge to confuse activity for accomplishment.

Excellence is endearing; excessiveness distracting.

We strive to shave off pretentious sheen in our worship services, rewarding sincerity rather than showmanship. We are committed to excellence, leaving room for people to fail, but always strive to improve.

For the kingdom, not the castle.

We want to be a church that plants churches, that celebrates sending over seating, that views   other Christian churches as partners for the Gospel rather than competitors for people.

Circles, not just rows.

Home Groups are huge for us. We push people to seek out a circle for life-sharing. The weekend worship gathering is not enough to grow into Christlikeness. Community is required.

Multiplication not addition.

Our goal is to equip the saints for works of service, helping people find their spiritual gifts and share them with others. We reject the idea that staff members are the paid pros, and church members are passive spectators. Every year, we send forth money and people to start new churches in strategic places.

The happiest people are the giving people.

Most churches are afraid to speak of money. Not us. Christian giving produces great joy. At strategic moments throughout the year, we challenge our people to give sacrificially to local, national, and international missions as well as developing their heart for God-centered tithing.

Across-the-street and across-the-sea.

We pray that God will use Storyline to send out missionaries locally, nationally, and internationally. We also believe that our neighborhoods are not accidental, but God’s providential placement of his people.

Our goal is to equip the saints
for works of service, helping
people find their spiritual gifts
and share them with others.
