04 Sep Church is a Team Sport
We believe in helping people discover, develop, and deploy their spiritual gifts.
I heard an old man say once: “God don’t make no junk.” His grammatically incorrect statement rang the bell of truth in my soul. Indeed, every person is created on purpose and for a purpose.
At Storyline, we believe that God smiles when His people work together. The Church is designed to be a magnificent team, moving this ball called “the Kingdom” down the field. We accomplish far more together than we could ever do apart. In fact, the New Testament clearly teaches that our God delights in diversity, creating His church as a kaleidoscope of talents. No two people get the same gift set—while one person plays the guitar with gusto, another delights in opening the door for newcomers. As one woman sits before a sea of children, teaching and illustrating truths, her husband meets with the team that serves the poor.
Without question, the temptation to compare ourselves to others is always present. Our human tendency is to be intimidated by the gifts of others, but the Scriptures call us to higher way of thinking. Our personal deficiencies are God’s perfect design.
When we are forced to rely on the gifts of others, we win. Everyone plays a critical role on this team.
